The EFFS Award for the best PhD Dissertation in Freshwater Sciences.
| The idea is rooted in the award by the Iberian Limnological Society (AIL), which awards one outstanding PhD Dissertation every two years, coinciding with the AIL meetings. Basically, all PhD Dissertations in the area of freshwater sciences performed in a Spanish or Portuguese university during the two years preceding next AIL meeting can apply for the prize, given the applicant is an AIL member and expresses his/her willingness to participate. The AIL board designates a jury among leading Iberian freshwater scientists, who make a decision balancing contents, format, and publication record and/or potential. A part from a Diploma, the newly Doctor is awarded with a monetary prize (around 1.200,00 €) and the opportunity to give a dedicated Plenary talk in the upcoming AIL meeting.
